A systematic review and meta-analysis of 27 randomized controlled trials, including a total of 1,438 participants, found that zinc supplementation can reduce body weight in overweight or obese, otherwise healthy individuals. However, the observed weight loss was moderate, and the authors emphasized that further high-quality studies are needed to draw definitive conclusions.

Zinc influences the production of leptin, the hormone responsible for signaling fullness — which may help reduce appetite and support better control over food intake.
